Zoom Range lets you set the map zoom levels at which an overlay is visible. The overlay hides automatically when the map is zoomed outside the range you set.
Use it to show detail overlays only when the map is zoomed in close, or to show broad context overlays only when zoomed out.
Set a zoom range
- Select the overlay on the map or in the Layers Panel.
- Open the Style Editor for the overlay.
- Check the Zoom Range checkbox.
Two number inputs appear:
- min — the minimum zoom level at which the overlay is visible. Default is 0 (fully zoomed out).
- max — the maximum zoom level at which the overlay is visible. Default is 22 (fully zoomed in).
- Set the min and max values for your desired range.
Note: The max value cannot be lower than the min value. If you lower the max below the current min, the min adjusts to match. The same applies in reverse.
Map zoom levels in Scribble Maps range from 0 (world view) to 22 (street level). Typical values:
| Zoom level | Approximate view |
|---|---|
| 0 – 3 | World to continent |
| 4 – 6 | Country to large region |
| 7 – 10 | State to city |
| 11 – 14 | District to neighborhood |
| 15 – 18 | Street level |
| 19 – 22 | Building / parcel level |
Disable zoom range
Uncheck the Zoom Range checkbox. The overlay becomes visible at all zoom levels. Your min and max values are not saved when you disable the setting.
