Search for a location by name
Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the name of the location you want to search for, such as: "Milwaukee", "Central Park", or "Pier 7 Heliport". For example, search for; "Pier 7 Heliport".
- In the left pane of the pop-up that appears, click on the name of the location.
Note: If there are markers on the map, the marker closest to the top search result will appear on the list.You will see the map automatically move and zoom to the location.
- If you want to add a marker, click on the link that’s in the location’s pop-up.
Search for a location by category
Select the general area
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the name of the general area you want to search, such as; the city, town, or county name. For example, search for: "Detroit".
- In the left pane of the pop-up, click on the name of the general area.
Select the categories
- In the right pane of the pop-up, scroll down the "Nearby Search" list to find the checkbox for the category you want to search for. The top of the list displays "Popular Categories". The rest of the list displays "Other" categories. For this example, click the checkbox for the "Other" category: "Museum".
Note: By clicking multiple checkboxes, you can search for multiple categories.
- The list of categories will move to the left pane, and the right pane will now display the heading: "Looking for". Underneath the heading, you will see the list of categories you selected. Click the button: "Find places".
Add markers to the places
In the Map View, you will see several green dots that each represent a "place".
On the right pane of the pop-up, you will see a list of "place names" that each corresponds with a green dot.
- You can change the "Range" (radius) of the search area. On the top of the left pane, click the drop-down to change the "Range". For example: "5 miles".
- On the right pane, you can click and drag the scroll bar to view the full list of places.
(TIP) When you hover over a specific place on the list, you will see a temporary marker appear on the corresponding green dot on the map.
- To add a marker to the place’s green dot, click the (+) button that’s next to the place name on the list. You will see the:
- (+) button has changed into a green checkmark.
- Marker is in the Layers Panel.
- Marker is placed on the map.
- You can automatically add markers to all of the green dots. At the bottom of the right pane, click the button: "Add All". You can also remove all of the markers you added, by clicking the button: "Remove All".
Move the map to center on a place
- You can make the Map View move so a place’s green dot is at the center. Click on the blue marker that’s next to the place’s name on the list.

Include Attributes

Add attributes to your overlays.

- In the Data View, locate the attribute's column header and click on the gear icon.

Click to check Include in Search.
- Click the Save button.
Search the attribute
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the value of the attribute you want to search for. This could be text, a number, a date, currency, etc.

- In the left pane of the pop-up that appears, click on the name of the attribute.
This will take you to the overlay associated with the attribute you selected.
Note: The search tool is limited to 2 results per attribute.
Search for a location by the marker’s title
Use these instructions if you have placed several markers, and you want to find the location of a marker that’s been given a title.
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the name of the marker you want to search for. For this example, we’ll search for a marker that’s been given the title: "START".
- In the left pane of the pop-up, click on the name of the marker.
You will see the map move and zoom to the location.
Search for a location by lat/long coordinates in DD format
- Find the source lat/long coordinates. For example, you can use Google to find the coordinates of a location.
Note: For this example, the lat/long coordinates must be in Decimal Degrees (DD) format. For example: "40.689249400, -74.044500400".- Click and drag to highlight the coordinates. Then press:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+C (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+C (For Mac).
Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Paste the coordinates by pressing:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+V (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+V (For Mac).

In the left pane of the pop-up, click on the coordinates that start with: "Lat,Lon".
You will see the map move and zoom to the location.
- If you want to add a marker, click on the link that’s in the coordinates pop-up.
Search for a location by lat/long coordinates in DMS format
- Find the source lat/long coordinates. For example, you can use Google to find the coordinates of a location.
Note: For this example, the lat/long coordinates must be in Degrees Minutes Seconds (DMS) format. For example; 40°41′21″N, 74°2′40″W.- Click and drag to highlight the coordinates. Then press:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+C (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+C (For Mac).
Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Paste the coordinates by pressing:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+V (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+V (For Mac).

You will see the map move and zoom to the location.
- If you want to add a marker, click on the link that’s in the coordinates pop-up.
Search for a location by easting/northing coordinates in BNG (UK) format
- Find the source easting/northing coordinates. For example, you can use Google to find the coordinates of a location.
- The coordinates must be in the BNG format that includes the grid letters.
"Grid letters" "Easting coordinate" "Northing coordinate"
For example: "TQ 30031 80374" or "TQ3003180374"
The Easting and Northing coordinates must each have:
- 1-5 digits.
- The same number of digits.
- Click and drag to highlight the coordinates. Then press:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+C (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+C (For Mac).
Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Paste the coordinates by pressing:
- Quick Key: Ctrl+V (for Windows).
- Quick Key: Cmd+V (For Mac).
- In the left pane of the pop-up, click on the coordinates that start with; "BNG".
You will see the map move and zoom to the location.
- If you want to add a marker, click on the link that’s in the coordinates pop-up.
Search for a location by address, ZIP code, postal code, post code, or plus code

Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the address of the location you want to search for. For example, search for: "405 Lexington Ave" - (located in New York).
You can also search by:- ZIP code. For example, "10174".
- Postal code. For example, "M5V 2T6".
- Post code. For example, "SW1A 0AA".
- Plus code. For example, "87G7PX00+".
- In the left pane of the pop-up, click on the address.
Note: If there are markers on the map, the marker closest to the top search result will appear on the list.You will see the map move and zoom to the location.
- If you want to add a marker, click on the link that’s in the location’s pop-up.
Find the closest marker by searching for a location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.

Type in the name of the location you want to search for, for example: "Milwaukee", "Central Park". or "Pier 7 Heliport".
- You can also search by the:
- Address: For example, "405 Lexington Ave".
- ZIP code. For example, "10174".
- Postal code. For example, "M5V 2T6".
- Post code. For example, "SW1A 0AA".
- In the left-pane of the pop-up that appears, the marker closest to the top search result will appear on the list. If you click on the marker, the map will move and zoom to the marker’s location.
Region Highlighter

Change the border/fill area colours, and the border thickness
- (Optional) Choose the colour of the highlighter's border.
To choose the colour:
- In the top toolbar, select the Border Colour Picker.
The Border Colour Picker is the Pencil Icon displaying the tooltip: "Changes line/border colour".

There are 2 options for this step:Option 1
Type the Hex Colour Code into the field.Option 2- Click on the "White+Colour" field to choose how much white is mixed with colour.
- (Optional) Click on the Shade Bar to choose how much gray or black is mixed with the "White+Colour".
- Click on the "White+Colour" field to choose how much white is mixed with colour.

(Optional) In the "Opacity" field, type in the non-transparency percentage of the final colour.
The opacity value:- 0% is invisible.
- 50% is see-through.
- 100% is the solid colour.
Note: You can save colours to use later. To learn how, visit this link: Save a colour swatch, then apply it to a new line, shape, or label - In the top toolbar, select the Border Colour Picker.
- (Optional) Choose the colour of the label's fill area.
The Fill Colour Picker is the Bucket Icon displaying the tooltip: "Change fills. Fill connected lines".
- (Optional) In the top toolbar, change the border thickness setting.
Search the location
- Find the "Search…" field in the top toolbar.
- Type in the name of the location, ZIP code, postal code, post code, or plus code you want to search for, such as.
For ZIP code, postal code, post code, or plus code:

- In the left pane of the pop-up that appears, click the location's name.
Highlight the Region
- Under the Region/Areas subtitle, click the region you want to highlight.
The REGION HIGHLIGHTER menu will appear.
- You can use the drop-down menu to select the Level of Detail.

Click the ADD TO MAP button to apply the highlighter.
In Map View, you will see that the region has been highlighted.
- Click "X" to close the REGION HIGHLIGHTER menu.
