Create the overlay

Create the buffer
- At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Gear Icon displaying the tooltip: "Operations & Analysis".
- Under the "Create" heading > "Buffer" subheading, click on the link: "From Overlay".
- Under the "Select Overlay" heading, click on the button: "Select".
The overlay selector window will pop up.
- Select the overlay.
- Under the "Size" heading, enter the size of the buffer.
- Type in the distance in the field.
- Select the measurement units from the drop-down menu.
- Type in the distance in the field.
- Under the "Line Colour" heading, select the colour for the buffer's edge.
- Type the Hex Colour Code into the field.
ORClick on the "White+Colour" Field to choose how much white is mixed with colour.
- Click on the Shade Bar to choose how much gray or black is mixed with the "White+Colour".
- Type in the "Opacity" value to choose the non-transparency percentage of the final colour.
Note:
- 0% opacity is invisible.
- 50% opacity is see-through.
- 100% opacity is the solid colour.
- Type the Hex Colour Code into the field.
- Under the "Fill Colour" heading, select the colour for the inside of the buffer.
- Click on the button: "Create Buffer".
- A pop-up will appear that says "Buffer Created". Click "Ok".
- In the top-right corner of the Operations and Analysis window, click on the "X" button.
- In the Layers Panel, you will see the buffer's row is titled: "Buffer" along with the distance you added (For example; Buffer 200mi). You can click on the Pencil Icon to edit the title.
- In Map View, you may have to zoom in or out to see the buffer. To find the buffer quickly, click on the centring button on the buffer's row in the Layers Panel. The button is the outlined square with a dot at the center.
