The difference between a folder and a group
A folder displays the group name and holds the set of overlays.
A group is the set of overlays in the folder.
You can create infinite subfolders/sub-groups. For example: If you create two folders in the Layer Panel, you can drag and drop the second folder into the first folder.
Add an overlay to a group - Before the overlay has been placed
- At the top of the Layer Panel, click on the Folder Icon to create a group.
Note: If the Layer Panel isn’t visible, click on the word “LAYERS” on the right side of the browser window.
- In the Layer Panel, highlight the folder by clicking on it.
- In the top menu bar, select the tool to create the overlay. You can create a:
- Marker.
- Label.
- Straight line, Drawn line, Smooth curved line, Flight line.
- Circle, Rectangle, Polygon.
- Isometric shape.
- Image overlay.
- In the Map View, create the overlay.
In the Layer Panel, you will see the overlay’s row is under the folder and indented from the left. This is because the overlay is now part of the group inside the folder.
- To toggle the visibility of all the overlays in the group, click on the Eye icon to the left of the group name.
- To change the name of the group, click on the Pencil icon to the right of the group name.
The default naming will be: “Group a”, “Group b”, etc.
Add overlays to a group - After the overlays have been placed
- In the Map View, create several overlays.
For example; 2 markers, 1 rectangle, and 1 isometric shape.
- At the top of the Layer Panel, click on the Folder icon to create a group.
Note: If the Layer Panel isn’t visible, click on the word “LAYERS” on the right side of the browser window.
-
Click and drag the overlay rows into the folder.
Note: If the Layer Panel has a long list of folders and overlays, you may want to select the destination folder from a list that only displays folders. First, click on the overlay row’s three dots. Second, select: “Move to Folder”. Third, click on the destination folder.
- In the Layer Panel, you will see that the overlay rows are under the folder and indented from the left. This is because the overlays are now part of the group inside the folder.
- To toggle the visibility of all the overlays in the group, click on the Eye icon to the left of the group name.
- To change the name of the group, click on the Pencil Icon to the right of the group name. The default naming will be: “Group a”, “Group b”, etc.
