The Simplify tool reduces the number of points on a polygon or line. Use it to clean up shapes that have more detail than needed, or to reduce file size.
Simplify a polygon or line
- In Map View, right-click the polygon or line you want to simplify.
- From the menu, click Simplify.
- A dialog opens showing your current zoom level and a dropdown to choose a zoom level to simplify to.
Tip: Lower zoom = more simplification. A higher zoom level keeps more detail.
- Use the dropdown to select the zoom level you want to simplify to.
- Click Simplify.
A confirmation message shows how many overlays were simplified and how many points were removed. For example: "Points: 450 → 120 (-330, 73%)"
Note: If the selected shape has no lines or polygons to simplify, you will see the message: "No lines or polygons to simplify."
