Solar Analysis shows a rooftop solar report for any building on your map. Drop a marker on a house and ScribbleMaps pulls a report from the Google Solar API. The report shows the building's address, imagery quality and date, the maximum number of panels that fit, total array area, panel energy information, and available financial scenarios. You can then add the modeled solar panels to your map as overlays.
Note: Solar Analysis is a Pro Business feature. The Google Solar API key stays on our servers and is never exposed to your browser.
Get a solar report
- Open the data layers list and turn on Solar Analysis.
- In the Solar Analysis panel, click Get Report.
- Click (drop a marker) on the house or building you want to analyze.
ScribbleMaps finds the closest building and displays a report summary:
| Row | Description |
|---|---|
| Address / Location | The matched building's address and coordinates |
| Imagery quality & date | How detailed the source imagery is (HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW) and when it was captured |
| Max panel count | The most panels Google's layout fits on the roof |
| Max array area | Total panel area at the maximum layout, in square meters |
| Panel energy | Per-panel capacity and modeled sunshine information |
| Financial analyses | Google-modeled savings scenarios, when available for the location |
Add panels to the map
When a report includes panel geometry, click Add Panels to Map to add them to your map. ScribbleMaps creates:
- A Solar Projects parent folder (created once and reused for later reports).
- An address-named child folder for this building, or Solar Project when Google did not return an address.
- One overlay per panel, each carrying its yearly energy estimate, orientation, and roof-segment number.
You can style, hide, or delete these overlays like any other map overlay.
When a location has no data
Google Solar does not cover every region, and a valid click can still return no report. When that happens, the panel shows a clear message and does not add any folders or panels. You can click Get Report again and try a different building. If the whole feature is unavailable to you, confirm your plan is Pro Business. Solar Analysis is not included in Free, Lite, or standard Pro plans.
