Definition and examples of attributes
An overlay’s attributes are listed data describing an overlay. The users who edit the map add the listed data to describe the overlay to map viewers.
Note: To view the attributes, the map viewers click on the overlay in the Map View.

An attribute name can be a shared category for multiple overlays.
Add an Attribute to an Overlay
Create the overlay
- Login to your Scribble Maps account at:
https://www.scribblemaps.com/create(Optional) To learn how to log in, visit this link:

Manually add an attribute to the overlay
- Select the Edit/Measure Tool in the top toolbar.
Quick Key: Or you can press the "Q" button on your keyboard.
- In Map View, right-click on the overlay.
- In the menu that appears, click: "Edit Attributes".
The "ATTRIBUTES" window will appear.
- You will notice the Title and Description attributes will already be included in the "ATTRIBUTES" window. Click on + Add Attribute to add the new attribute.
A new attribute row will appear.

Enter the attribute’s name.
For example: "PROPERTY TYPE".

Enter the attribute's value.
For example: "Single Family Residential".

Select the type of attribute from the drop-down menu.

- MULTIPLE OPTIONS
- TRUE/FALSE

- CURRENCY

- (Optional) If you want to add another attribute to the overlay, click the button: "+ Add Attribute".
The button is located under the attribute rows in the attributes window.
Attribute Visibility
- Under the "Table Show" header, check to display the Attribute in the Data View table.
- Under the "Info Show" header, check to display the Attribute in your overlays.
- Under the "Map Show" header, check to display the Attribute on the map.
- Under the "Search" header, check to display the Attribute on the map
Save the Attributes
- (Optional) If you want to delete an attribute, click the Garbage Bin Icon on the attribute’s row.
- When complete, click the button: "SAVE ATTRIBUTES".
- (Optional) In the overlay editor window, click the "SAVE" button.
View the data in the info bubble
For each type of overlay (not including labels), map users can quickly view the overlay's attributes in the info bubble.
- Select the Hand Tool in the top toolbar.
Or you can hold down the "Shift" button on your keyboard.
- In Map View, click on the overlay. For example; a marker.
- You will see the info bubble.
Any attribute field that includes a URL will become a Link.
Bulk Edit Attributes
Add the overlay to a folder
- At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Folder Icon displaying the tooltip: "Add Group".
You will see the folder added to the Layers Panel.

Click and drag each overlay’s row into the folder.
The folder now holds a set of overlays, so the folder is considered a Group.

Edit the Attributes
- From the Layers Panel, click on the 3 dots to the right of the folder or one of the selected overlays displaying the tooltip: "More actions"

Click on "Edit Attributes" from the Group list of options.
The BULK EDIT ATTRIBUTES menu will open.
- Once you've edited your attributes, you will notice the button displays how many attributes will be affected. Click the UPDATE OVERLAYS button to complete the change.
