What is Geocoding?

Address geocoding, or simply geocoding, is an intricate task that involves multiple datasets and the processing of converting text-based descriptions of locations into geographic coordinates, which you can use to place markers on a map. 

 

Why use Geocodes?

Geocodes are an efficient way to help import large amounts of data from a CSV file. 

 

Scribble Maps and Geocodes

Upload your file and your account will automatically debit a single geocode for each location you import/convert from an address into coordinates for a marker's location.

Pro Basic = 500 Geocodes/month

Pro Business = 5,000/month

 

Note:
  • The Geocodes renew each month for both plans but do not carry over from one month to the next.
     
  • When you purchase a yearly subscription, please remember that the benefits cannot be accumulated or used together during the first month.
     
  • If the spreadsheet you are importing already has the latitude and longitude, it will not use a geocode.
     
  • Once you use a geocode, you don't have to use it again for the same map during the same open session. However, if you close the map, reopen it, or if it is refreshed, the geocode will be used again.

    Export a CSV of your map, which will include the latitude and longitude and avoid using geocodes when re-imported.
