What the Maps page does
The Maps page lists your team's maps. You can search them, open them in the editor, delete them, and change each map's security and access password. You open it from the Maps section of the team portal. The header reads Maps for your team name.
To see this page, you need a paid team seat. If you do not have one, the page shows a message: "You don't have a team seat/product, so you can't view this team's maps. Ask your team admin to assign you a seat." If the team has no maps yet, it says "Team does not have any maps yet."
Search the maps
Use the Search maps... box at the top. It matches the map title, description, map ID, and security state, and it is not case-sensitive.
Read the table
The columns are Actions, Created, Title, Description, Map ID, Security, and Labels. Labels show as colored tags. You can sort by most columns, including Security.
Open a map
Click Load on a map's row. The map opens in the Scribble Maps editor in a new browser tab.
Delete a map
- Click the delete (trash) button on the map's row.
- A confirmation appears: "This map will be completely erased!"
- Click Yes to remove it.
Deletion is permanent. Maps are deleted one at a time. There is no bulk delete.
Change a map's security
The Security column shows each map's state with an icon:
- Public
- Unlisted
- Secure
- Encrypted
To change it, you must be an Editor, Admin, or Owner.
- Click the pencil in the Security column.
- Pick Public, Unlisted, or Secure from the dropdown.
- Click the check to save, or the X to cancel.
You can only pick states your team allows. The team's Map Security policies decide whether Public and Unlisted are available. If you pick a state the team does not allow, the save is blocked.
Encrypted maps are read-only here. Their state can only be changed in the map editor, so they show no pencil.
Set or change an access password
A map can have an access password that controls who can open it.
- A Set password link appears only on Secure and Encrypted maps that do not have one yet. Public and Unlisted maps are accessible via a link, so they don't have a password option.
- Once a password is set, Change and Remove links appear.
To set or change it, click the link, type a new password, and click Save. To remove it, click Remove and confirm. When you remove it, "Anyone allowed to view the map will no longer be prompted for a password." You must be an Editor, Admin, or Owner.
Passwords on encrypted maps
On an encrypted map, the access password and the encryption are two different things. The set or change dialog reminds you: the access password only controls who can open the map. It does not decrypt the map data and cannot be used to recover it. The encryption key is held on your device and is never changed here.
What gets recorded
Changing a map's security state, setting or changing or removing an access password, and deleting a map are all recorded in your team Audit Log.
