What the Slack integration does
Connect a Slack workspace to your team to get a message in Slack when team members save maps. You also get slash commands to search and create maps right from Slack. Only owners and admins can set this up.
You open this page from the Slack section of the team portal.
Connect Slack
- Click Add to Slack.
- Sign in to your Slack workspace and approve the access.
When you are connected, the page shows the workspace name and the channel it posts to.
Turn notifications on or off
In the connected view, use the Notifications toggle.
- When it shows Notifications enabled, team members get a Slack message when maps are saved.
- When it shows Notifications disabled, no save messages are sent.
To check the connection, click Send Test Message. This button works only while notifications are enabled.
Slash commands
Type these commands in Slack after you connect:
| Command | What it does | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
/map-search [search terms] | Search your team's maps. Results follow team permissions. You can share a map to a channel, send it to a teammate, or download GeoJSON. | Pro Business subscription |
/public-map-search [search terms] | Search publicly listed maps on ScribbleMaps. | All users |
/create-map [address] | Open ScribbleMaps with a new map centered on the address. | Pro Business subscription |
If your team does not have Pro Business seats, the /map-search and /create-map sections show an upgrade notice instead.
Disconnect Slack
To remove the connection, click Disconnect in the connected view.
