What Map Labels are
Map Labels are colored tags you use to organize your team's maps. Each label has a name and a colour. A label can sit on its own, or it can sit under one parent label. Only owners and admins can manage labels.
You open this page from the Map Labels section of the team portal.
Create a label
- Click Create Label.
- Enter a Name. The name is required.
- Pick a Color with the colour picker. A new label starts with a default blue.
- (Optional) Pick a Parent Label. Leave it on None for a top-level label, or choose an existing label to nest this one under it.
- Click Save. To stop without saving, click Cancel.
Read the labels table
The Labels card lists your active labels with these columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Color | A colored dot for the label. |
| Name | The label name. A child label is indented under its parent. |
| Maps | How many maps use the label. |
| Actions | Edit and Delete buttons. |
Edit a label
- Click the edit (pencil) button on the label's row.
- Change the Name or Colour.
- Click Save.
You can only set a label's parent when you create it. The parent cannot be changed after that, so the Parent Label field does not appear when you edit.
Delete and restore a label
Deleting a label does not erase it. It moves the label to Archived Labels, and the label stops showing on maps until you bring it back. Maps keep their link to the label.
- Click the delete (trash) button on the label's row, then confirm.
- To bring a label back, open the Archived Labels section at the bottom of the page and click Restore on the label's row.
The Archived Labels section only appears when you have at least one archived label.
