Create the shapes
- Create two or more shapes: For example; a rectangle and a polygon.
To learn how to create the shapes, visit these links:

Polygon Tool—Draw a polygon
Add the overlays to a folder
- At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Folder Icon displaying the tooltip: "Add Group".
You will see the folder added to the Layers Panel.

Click and drag each shape’s row into the folder.
The folder now holds a set of overlays, so the folder is considered a Group.

Configure the calculation
- At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Gear Icon displaying the tooltip: "Operations & Analysis".
- Under the "Analysis" heading > "Other" subheading, click on the link: "Rainwater Collection".
- Under the "Select Group" heading, click on the button: "Select".
- Click on the group you created.
- Under the "Rainfall" heading, type in the quantity of rainwater that falls on a square meter. You can click the up/down arrows to make fine adjustments.
- Under the "Rainfall Unit" heading, select the unit for the quantity of rainfall that falls on a square meter. The options are:
- Millimetres.
- Inches.
- Under the "Coefficient" heading, type in the percentage of rainwater that will be collected.
Note: The coefficient is the ratio of rainwater that will be collected, to the rain that falls. The coefficient can be affected by features of the location, such as; material, slope, etc.
- Under the "Output Unit" heading, select the unit for the quantity of rainfall that will be collected. The options are:
- Liters.
- Gallons.
Calculate the data and view the results
- Click on the button: "Calculate".
You will see a new page display the:
- Area measurement of each shape.
- Total area of all shapes.
- Quantity of rainfall that will be collected in each shape.
- Total quantity of rainfall that will be collected in all shapes.
- Close the Operations & Analysis window by clicking on the "X" button in the top-right corner.
