A travel time isochrone is a polygon that represents the range of distances a traveller can reach in a specified time. The traveller:
- Starts from the central marker.
- Walks, cycles, or drives.
Select the border style for the polygon
- Choose the border style.
In the top toolbar, above the "Search…" magnifying glass, you will see the border style selector. Click on the current border style. Then click to select the new border style from the drop-down menu.
Create the marker
- Create the marker at the location you want the traveller to start from.

Configure the isochrone
- At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Toolbox's gear and wrench icon.
You will see a window with Core Operations and Plugin options appear.
- Under the "Analysis" heading > "Polygon" subheading, click on the link: "Time/Distance Isochrone".
- Under the "speed" heading, select the mode of travel:
- Walk.
- Drive.
- Cycle.
- Under the Start Marker heading, click the button: "select".
- Select the marker you want the traveller to start from.
- Under the "Range" heading, type in the number of minutes (maximum 200). You can also click the up/down arrows to make fine adjustments.
Select the colours for the border and the fill area
- Under the "Line Colour" heading, click the rectangle that displays the currently selected border colour.
- Type the Hex Colour Code into the field.
ORClick on the "White+Colour" Field to choose how much white is mixed with colour.
- Click on the Shade Bar to choose how much gray or black is mixed with the "White+Colour".
- Type in the "Opacity" value to choose the non-transparency percentage of the final colour.
Note:
- 0% opacity is invisible.
- 50% opacity is see-through.
- 100% opacity is the solid colour.
- Under the Fill Colour heading, click the rectangle to change the currently selected colour.
Create, view, and edit the isochrone
- Click on the button: "Create Travel Polygon".
- After processing, a pop-up will appear to tell you the polygon has been created. "Click Ok".
- In the top-right corner of the Toolbox window, click on the "X" button, to close the window.
- In the Layers Panel, you will see a folder with the polygon that has been created. You can click the arrow next to the folder to view the polygon’s row.
- (Optional) In Map View, you may have to zoom in or out to see the polygon around the marker.
To find the polygon quickly, click on the centring button on the polygon’s row in the Layers Panel.The button is the outlined square with a dot at the center. - If you select the Edit/Measure Tool in the top toolbar, you can measure, edit, and move the polygon.
