Create a hole inside a shape (rectangle, circle, polygon) - Hole/Split/Cut

Holes enable you to create many new types of shapes, including: donuts, and islands.

For this instruction, we’re going to create a donut shape.

Draw the main shape, and the "hole" shape

1. In Map View, draw a large circle.

   To learn how to draw basic shapes, visit these links:

   • Circle Tool—Draw a circle
   • Draw a polygon - (Polygon Tool)
   • Rectangle Tool—Draw a rectangle

    
2. Besides the large circle, draw a small circle.

3. In the top toolbar, select the "Edit/Measure Tool".

   Quick Key: Or you can press the "Q" button on your keyboard.

    
4. In the Map View, click and drag the small circle inside the middle of the large circle.
    
5. Right-click on a section of the large circle not covered by the small circle.
    
6. In the menu, click to select: "Hole/Split/Cut".
   A pop-up will appear, displaying a list of the map’s shapes and lines.
    
7. Click to select the small circle you previously created.
   In Map View, you will see the large circle is now a donut shape.

More options

• (Optional) You can make the small circle appear in the Map View.

  In the Layers Panel, click the Eye Icon on the small circle’s row.

• (Optional) You can delete the small circle.

  1. In the Layers Panel, click the Garbage Bin Icon on the small circle’s row.
      
  2. In the pop-up, click “Yes”.
