Definition of plus codes

Open Location Code is a system for identifying areas on the surface of the Earth.

The alphanumeric codes are called "plus codes" because each code includes a "+" character.

The resolution of the specified area is defined by the number of digits in the plus code. Longer plus codes identify a smaller area.

Plus codes are often used as a replacement for street addresses, especially in places where buildings aren’t numbered or streets aren’t named.

Add the plus code

1. Select the Edit/Measure Tool in the top toolbar.

   Quick Key: Or you can press the "Q" button on your keyboard.

    
2. In the Map View, click the label.
   The label editor window will appear.
    
3. Above the "Description" field, click the 5 dots forming the Plus Sign Icon.
   The icon displays the tooltip: "Add Open Location Code".
    
4. You will see the code added to the "Description" field.
    
5. Click the "SAVE" button.
   In Map View, you will see the code has been added to the label.
