Description of a directions line
- Specified location - (Explained in this article).
- Another marker location - (See: Plot a directions line connecting two markers)
The directions line feature enables you to draw lines that start at one marker and end at multiple locations. Creating lines that end at multiple locations has many useful applications, such as: If you want to find the distances of several routes.

Create a marker for the start location.

- In the Map View, click on the start marker.
The info bubble will pop up.
- Click on the Pencil Icon.
The marker editor window will pop up.
- For this example, we’ll define the "Title" of the marker: "START".
- Click on the "Save" button.
Specify the destination location

Quick Key: Or you can press the "Q" button on your keyboard.
- Click on the START marker.
The info bubble will pop up.

The Draw Directions window will appear.
- In the "Search…" field, type in a location’s name. For example: "New York, NY, USA". When you start typing in the name, click on the appropriate suggestion.
Select the level of detail
Choose if you want to modify the default "Level Of Detail" (15) of the directions line. The lowest possible level is 5, the highest level is 22.
A high level of detail increases the display quality of the map. But on slower machines, the increased quality may reduce the app’s speed.
If your map is zoomed-out or has a lot of drawn lines/shapes, the map may not display properly. So reducing the level of detail may improve the app’s speed.
Add Travel Time
To display the Travel Time on the map, click the checkmark for Times On Map.
Plot and view the directions line
- Click "Draw Directions".
When the processing is complete, the "Directions Plotted" message will appear.
- Click "Ok".
In Map View, you will see the directions line connecting the start marker and the checkered finish flag that marks the destination location.
Editing possibilities
The methods for editing the directions line are the same as for editing a freeform line. To learn the editing possibilities visit the list of articles at this link: Draw Tool—Draw a freeform line.
