Export map data to Google My Maps

Notes:
To export the map data to Google My Maps (GMM), you will first download the KML file from Scribble Maps. Then upload the KML file to GMM.

 

If attribute data is included in the KML file, the data will be imported for compatible overlay types.

Types of overlays

• Can be imported.
• Can't be imported.
• Can be partially imported.

You can import the KML data for these overlay types:

• Markers.
• Lines - Freeform line, Straight line, Precise curved line.
• Shapes - Rectangle, Circle, Polygon.
  For a shape, the original border colour will be changed to the fill area colour.

We recommend you delete all of the unusable overlay types:

• Flight lines.
• Isometric shapes.
• Images.

For Labels, the location will be imported as a marker.

The "name" and "description" data will be attributes.

 

 

For Dimension lines, the dimension components won't be imported.

Only the straight line component will be imported.

Export the KML file

Import the KML file into GMM

1. Log in to Google My Maps
    
2. In GMM, click the button: "+ CREATE A NEW MAP".
   You will see the page transfer to a new map.
    
3. In the left panel, you will see the heading: "Untitled layer". Under the heading, click the "Import" link.
   A window will appear titled: "Choose a file to import".
    
4. Click the button: "Select a file from your device".
    
5. On your computer, find the KML file you downloaded from Scribble Maps. Click to select the file. Then click the "Open" button.
   You will see the overlays appear on the map.
