If you encounter an incorrect password error while saving a map, there can be several reasons behind it. Here are some common causes for an invalid password and suggestions on how to resolve the issue.
Common Reasons for Invalid Passwords
Not logged in
If you initially saved a map without a password while logged in, only you will be able to save it while logged in. Ensure that you are currently logged in and the map belongs to your account.
Map ID Already Exists
If another user has already claimed the Map ID, you won't be able to save the map without the correct password. Make sure the Map ID you are using is unique.
Blank Password and Map Claimed
If you saved the map with a blank password while not logged in, the first person who logs in and saves the map will claim it as their own. Once claimed, only the person who claimed the map can edit it.
Wrong Map ID
Map IDs are case-sensitive. Ensure that you are not accidentally saving a map that belongs to someone else. Check for any typos or incorrect capitalization in the Map ID.
Wrong Password
Passwords are case-sensitive, and it's easy to mistype them. Double-check the password for accuracy. We strongly recommend saving maps while logged in to avoid password-related errors.
What To Do
Copy The Map
To resolve the issue easily, create a copy of the map in your account. Follow these steps:
- Access the map and click on the "Save" option.
- Change the Map ID to a unique value.
- Save the map, creating a new copy associated with your account.
Important Notes
- Password recovery for anonymous maps is not available. If you encounter an invalid password error with an anonymous map, we suggest making a copy of the map to your account and continuing working on the new copy.
- We highly recommend saving new maps while logged in to prevent invalid password errors. When a map is associated with an account, the password can be changed, and the owner will always have the ability to save it.
