Sum or Average all lengths in a group - "Measurement > Sum/Average Lengths"

Create the lines

1. In Map View, draw your lines.

Add the lines to a folder

2. At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Folder Icon displaying the tooltip: "Add Group".
   You will see the folder added to the Layers Panel.
    
3. Click and drag each line’s row into the folder.
   The folder now holds a set of lines, so the folder is considered a Group.

Calculate the Count, Sum, and Average

4. At the top of the Layers Panel, click on the Toolbox's gear and wrench icon.
   You will see a window with Core Operations and Plugin options appear.
    
5. Under the "Aggregate" heading > "Measurement" subheading, click on the link: "Sum/Average Lengths".
    
6. Under the "Select Group" heading, click the button: "Select".
    
7. Click to select the group from the list.
    
8. Under the "Unit" heading, select the unit of measurement. 

   • Metre
   • Kilometre
   • Feet
   • Feet Inches
   • Yard
   • Mile
   • Nautical Mile

    

    
9. Under the "Method" heading, select Sum or Average from the drop-down menu.
    
10. Click the "Aggregate Data" button. A new window will appear, with a table where you will see the Sum or Average for the attributes in the table.
     
11. In the top-right corner of the Toolbox window, click on the "X" button, to close the window.
