Or you can press the "M" button on your keyboard.
The marker selector window will pop up. - Click on the button: "Add Your Own".
- Paste the URL into the "Image URL" field.
(Optional) Edit the marker’s anchor
By changing the marker’s anchor you can decide which part of the marker will stick to the exact location when you view the zoomed-in map. For example, if you use the search feature to add a custom marker at the Statue of Liberty, you could change the marker’s anchor so the monument isn’t covered by the marker.
The default location of the anchor is set to the center of the marker, which is:
- Horizontal, X = 0.5
- Vertical, Y = 0.5
The horizontal measurement (X):
- Starts from the left extremity, which is 0.
- Ends at the right extremity, which is 1.
The vertical measurement (Y):
- Starts from the top extremity, which is 0.
- Ends at the bottom extremity, which is 1.
Under the X/Y heading, you will see two fields.
- To change the X-value, type the new value into the top field.
- To change the Y-value, type the new value into the bottom field.
For example, If you change the X-value from 0.5 to 0.8, you will see the anchor has moved to the right.
(Optional) Edit the marker’s size
- Under the Width/Height heading, you will see two fields.
- To change the marker’s width, type the new value into the top field.
- To change the marker’s height, type the new value into the bottom field.
Note: If you set the scale to more than 100%, the marker will be bigger. If you set the scale to less than 100%, the marker will be smaller.
