Right now it is only meters/km. Maybe in the line properties you could select the measurement units to display?118 votes
This option is now complete in version 2.0. You can change the measurement type in the bottom left corner by clicking “settings”.
When we roll over pro to using the new API, it will also have this feature.
We would consider using the Pro version if you'd add Bing maps also. With full zoom of course.99 votes
Our new Scribble Maps API will support Bing, Google, Nokia, and eventually all other major Mapping APIs. The actual Scribble Maps platform will default to Google, but will eventually be able to be used by all APIs as well.
We have rolled out undo/redo in the regular editor.
as it is possible to host an own geoserver with WMS, WFS and WCS it would be very nice to have the possibility to use scribblemaps on selfmade custom maps.53 votes
Wow it has been 7 years since we updated this. We actually now have support for it.
For example, I would like my students to insert images of historical sites along the Nile without the use of markers. With the ability to resize images, we'll be able to fit in a lot of sites. Thanks for the great service!50 votes
This is now possible in 2.0.
Hi, I've been looking for a tool that will highlight just one country or region either by changing it's colour our preferably by setting to grey all the countries around it.
I cant be the only person who's wanted to do this but i cant find it anywhere.
We rolled out this feature today.
I don't seem able to select a line and change its colour, thickness or opacity once the line is drawn41 votes
This is now complete in 2.0, using the paint bucket tool you can not only change the line thickness but the line style type.
I'm new to this program and I have no idea how to use this? ie: how do I change the size of a text box so that it doesnt appear in one long line?39 votes
We have added marker uploading.
It would be great if it would be possible to use an image (jpg, gif, ...) as a map. There are a lot of games for example which provide maps and for these it would also be very nice to be able to use scribblemaps as an editor.29 votes
We have implemented the ability to upload self made maps, check it out under pro account > custom base maps.
I'd like to see new options. First, I want to add or remove roads on maps. My town is small, and there aren't all streets. Of course I'd like also to add names of this streets.
Second, I'd like to add text, but I want remowe this strange, white frame.
Finally, I'd like to maximally zoom map even if hers quality will decrease.
Thanks in advance.29 votes
You can draw roads in, but Scribble Maps wasn’t really defined for adding roads, however, if you’re missing roads in your area you should try using http://www.google.com/mapmaker/ this will allow you to add roads, and would eventually come up in Scribble Maps.
When importing a spreadsheet (xls) you can already use lat/lon to post a marker and have the availability of selecting the marker to display certain values (header, address, content). I wish you could instead have it place a text box at the specified lat/lon point and have the 'content' placed as the text within the text box!28 votes
We have implemented the ability to add text markers through the spreadsheet window.
In the old scribblemaps, there was a legend function. In the new scribblemaps it doesn't! This is a problem because the old scribblemaps is not accessable anymore.27 votes
We have added the legend function back into the new editor.
Allow when drawing circles to copy and paste so size can be consistant. Also if you could move circles to precise locations.
I would like the ability to make a 250 mile diameter circle and place it around cities of certain populations. So the ability to move circles and to copy and paste circles (and squares or images) would be very important.25 votes
This now possible using our GIS Panel. You can draw a circle with an exact radius around either a point you specify or a marker on the map.
We recommend using the image export (save jpeg) and then printing the image, that will give you more flexibility. We are working on making the same functionality available to print as well.
All maps now support collaboration.
SO you can draw a line along a road to create a boundary and when you save the JPEG it will show up your line15 votes
Switch to the free hand tool and select “snap to roads”
It only seem to show metres/kilometres when drawing lines and/or measured lines. Or am I missing the setting to change to feet?15 votes
Like in the pro-version, it would be useful to have a layer control to switcher layers or objects on and off, without editing. This would be useful when embeded into blogs or other websites.15 votes
